:- 2.0 out of 5 stars from Beep -- More Politics than Insects : I returned this. Wanted to learn about insects. More politics than bugs. Moved on to an Entomology textbook. ( Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Kate B. -- A Must Read for Everyone : The science was easily understood and the individual action items were excellent and very doable if we are to avert the apocalypse ( Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from A -- Awesome! : Loved this book! Very informative, everyone should take the time to read. Loved the one page insect highlights between chapters. Hopefully the author will update this again in years to come. Hopefully we take more action, collectively and individually. So glad the author highlights the importance of insects. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Elwood -- A thoughtful and intelligent book about the biggest crisis that faces us today : This was a kindle book purchase. I have read several of the authors books all of them excellent. This one did not disappoint. A well written thoughtful book about the climate crisis we are in and how are existence is so interlinked and dependent on the very things we have been trying to destroy in the name of progress for over 200 years. A must read ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 28, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from D & C -- Save our insects : Fantastic book, each argument was backed with scientific evidence. Everybody should read it and try to help save our insects by trying to follow action points suggested in the book. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 19, 2021 )
- 3.0 out of 5 stars from paul -- okay, but only okay : This has the feel of a lockdown book, something conceived, banged out and published in a year. It is an overview of the world's environmental woes, illustrated with examples from the insect world. Goulson is at his best writing about insects, less convincing when writing on the subjects of agricultural intensification or climate change. My favourite parts were the rather random thumbnail sketches of random insects between the chapters. The book has a rather lazy, formulaic feel to it, enhanced by the scant references and notes. There is nothing new here, no fresh ideas. Not his best book - it's not bad, just okay. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 25, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from David Mitchell -- This is an important book : This book reviews one area of the climate crisis in detail and gives a picture what lies ahead if we do not change our world and, in particular, agriculture. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 1, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from A and J -- Milestone book : Pesticide use is increasing, neonicotinoides are still being used in UK and there are many similar toxins in increasing use.meanwhile wildlife is in massive decline, the UK is one of the world's worst places for biodiversity for goodness sake!
